As the world's population expands, the demand for natural resources has put an enormous burden on the environment, highlighting the importance of increasing the sustainability, efficiency, and quality of our buildings. Indeed, according to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), buildings in the United States consume more than 30% of our total energy and 60% of our electricity annually. Five billion gallons of potable water alone are used to flush our toilets everyday, while buildings are the primary source of pollution in urban areas. Conscious of the threat this poses and of the necessity to change our ways, ACORN is committed to do everything within its means to reduce the impact of its work on the environment. We recycle all our materials and construction waste, use FSC certified wood whenever possible and keep abreast of the latest environmentally friendly techonologies available in our field.
